YUN ZHANG A BRUSH WITH LOVE Curator notes: "Following on from a succession of awards and exhibits across Asia, Yun Zhang’s A Brush With Love marks his first exhibition in Melbourne, and his first solo exhibition on this scale in Australia. A Brush With Love draws from the incredibly legacy of poems created during the Tang Dynasty, including those from Li Bai (李白) and Du Fu (杜甫), poets revered even to this day. Yun Zhang’s work explores the intimacies of love and longing as appear in many of these poems, drawing out the sentiment of the many kinds of love (for lovers, family, friends)that exist within the love profusion. As a contemporary artist, Zhang occupies a fascinating space in our region’s contemporary art scene, in that his already prolific output at such a young age manages to keep alive the traditions of an art form with a millennia long history." A live calligraphy demonstration by Yun Zhang was hosted in the space on October 18. The works draw from the poetry of the Tang Dynasty. Translations have been kindly supplied by 邓伟健 [Deng Weijian] to enable local audiences the opportunity to fully appreciate these works.

YING ANG BETWEEN HERE AND THERE Immersion Therapy's inaugural exhibition was Between Here and There by Ying Ang. Curator notes: "Virtually self taught, Ying has already hewn a highly successful career from fashion and commercial photography, capturing images at the extremes of ephemeral and timeless styles on a daily basis. Between Here and There marks a departure from her commercial work, instead finding Ying seeking out and celebrating that which we overlook. Between Here and There revels instead in the quiet beauty of the in-between and lead up moments. Shifting focus away from the end result, Ying's images, (taken from around the globe), glisten with the deeper lustre of the beauty which has time to accumulate, expand and grow during the course of the journey. It's from these seemingly unquiet moments that Ying draws, assembling a series of consistently anticipatory and still images, as ripe with expectation as they are in their gentle grace."
